On Tuesday and Thursday residents from Chattanooga came to share their old photos and memorabilia.  With the information provided, our hope is that we will be able to create a community map of old establishments and work towards a collection of oral histories.

The historians from the Chattanooga History Museum cataloged photos in many forms, including 35mm slides and printed photos of all sizes.  Some of the most exciting treasures shared were old Chattanooga ChooChoo Train Crew Schedules, an East Chattanooga Baptist Hymnal, a Rivoli Theatre Ticket, and a Hamilton National Bank card.

This event was successful in bringing East Chattanooga residents together to share photos and histories that are often lost or forgotten.  Marie Cullis from the Chattanooga History Center reminded all of us that the importance of this project lies in the history that we all share as Chattanoogans.  Her hope is to hold future events in other parts of Chattanooga in order to add to the collection of photos and artifacts in the History Center.
