In May, over 200 adults and youth came together on Glass Street for the May Day Community Festival. Rebekah, from Moving Forward Dance Studio, recruited 2 bands, 3 singers, 3 poets, 1 mime, and an African Dance and Drum Troop to perform at the event.
May Day brought professional artists together to engage with the East Chattanooga community and encourage cultural awareness and appreciation for diversity. The celebration was successful in encouraging interaction among youth and adults in a positive, fun manner as well as priming outside interest into the East Chattanooga community. We hope to have more events like this in the future!
A big shout-out to our supporters for the event:
Gail McKeel (Good Neighbor Network) – hotdogs and drinks
Kenneth Jones (community member) – horse and buggy rides
