How do we support our community school during the COVID-19 pandemic?

BACKGROUND:

Glass House Collective was working at our local elementary school to receive input and ideas for an upcoming public realm project. Completely blown away by the creativity of our neighborhood youth, we were gearing up for another day inside the school to abruptly find out all schools in our county were closed due to COVID-19.

NEED:

The art teacher was determined to make sure families have art supplies so kids could continue making art while at home for the remainder of the school year and over the summer. We know how important the arts are, especially during stressful times, so we felt the urgency to help meet this need. We partnered with another community organization, ART120, and quickly got to work.

VISION:

The Art Anywhere Kit was branded by Taylor Kinser Design. Once the brand was launched GHC created a social media fundraising campaign using branded graphics asking for $7 donations to cover the cost of one kit. Glass House Collective matched every donation dollar for dollar. We also launched a downloadable How-To Guide to share with other schools and communities.
