Can a Celebration of the Past Promise a Stronger Community?

November 11 and 13, 2014

BACKGROUND:

To celebrate Chattanooga’s 175th birthday, Glass House Collective partnered with Picnooga and the Chattanooga History Center to gather photos and documents from historic East Chattanooga to better piece together and document the history of our neighborhoods.

NEED:

Residents from Glass Street and East Chattanooga came by on November 11th and 13th to showcase their old photos and memorabilia and have them scanned and archived.

VISION:

This project was a way to not only bring together the community but share how historic and impactful East Chattanooga is. The preservation of history provides a map of the past, a textbook for the future, and a place where everyone can go to marvel at how far we’ve come as a community.
