lynesha lake

community fellow

Lynesha’s work as a community organizer is all about the power of relationships and resources. Her role as GHC’s Community Fellow is impactful and authentic because of how she connects ideas with the needs of people and threads herself into the work.

Knowing how involvement leads to influence Lynesha has been behind the scenes working for change for several years. She was active in the Orchard Knob Elementary and Dalewood Middle’s PTA and parent leadership teams on behalf of her family and her community. Years later, as one of the inaugural graduates of our SWAY program, Lynesha is sharpening her skills as a community organizer and emerging as a powerful young black leader in our city. Her passion for education, housing and economic development, and community leadership intersects not only in her work in Glass Farm, but also as our representative with CALEB, where she is the co-chair of the Economic Mobility Task Force. She finds balance by grounding herself in nature or pulling out some colorful yarn and crocheting in random public spaces. As a mother of 5, Lynesha is a model of resilience and who finds beauty in the challenges that change us for the better.
