Join Us for a FREE Urban Cultivators Class in East Chattanooga

Want to reduce your family budget and eat healthier? Want to learn how to start your own garden? Or a community garden? Join us for the 2nd Urban Cultivators class!

When: Mondays 6-8 pm | November 3, 2014 – February 16, 2015

Where: Grow Hope Urban Youth Farm | 1800 Roanoke Avenue, Avondale

Join us for this 12-week course modeled after the Master Gardener program to learn all the basics of home or community gardening. Topics include:

  • Garden design
  • Soil fertility
  • How plants grow
  • Composting
  • Growing vegetables and edible perennials (herbs, berries and fruit trees)
  • Pest management and plant diseases
  • Preserving the bounty
  • Cooking with the seasons
  • Urban gardening, community gardening and food justice

Those who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
Participants will receive class notes and notebook for their own use.
