Open Hours at Studio Everything
Studio Everything hosts open studio hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-7pm for community members who want to learn about woodworking and object creation.
The Open Studio hours do not have a scheduled curriculum and encourages the learners to participate however they wish in order to build positive relationships among local youth and community members. It also provides a safe environment for youth to try new things and make better life choices. Rondell, the artist who runs the studio, works specifically with youth participants to develop their professional and personal skills and promotes peer to peer education.
Although Studio Everything generally caters to youth, Rondell encourages all ages to join in on the learning process, especially those interested in woodwork and art. The goal of the studio is to be intergenerational with a family dynamic. When you visit Studio Everything, the first session will include a tour of the facilities and a conversation about what the studio space can provide. On the following visits, participants can develop ideas and bring them to life through the use of tools and materials provided at the studio.
While Studio Everything provides the space and the tools needed to complete most projects, participants are often asked to collect discarded or salvaged objects for reuse. This practice encourages reducing and reusing waste while simultaneously bringing life back to rejected street materials.
What can you make at Studio Everything? Anything! So far, youth and adult participants have made mailboxes, birdhouses, tables, glass and wooden pendants, Christmas tree toppers and ornaments, spinning tops, plaques, signs, and much more.
